Why Investigate Recycling?

Children are fascinated by what is in garbage cans and often pick up trash against our wishes. This natural curiosity provides a good starting point for finding out what happens to trash after it's thrown away and exploring the concept of reducing, reusing, and recycling.

 In this study, children observe, gather data, explore their community, interview experts, learn new information, and propose solutions to problems using skills in math, literacy, the arts, and technology. Trash and garbage are all around us. Let's teach our children how to take care of the world around them.
